Below are a list of questions commonly asked by small business,
organisations or individuals regarding the creation and running
of a web site.

us and we will do our best to assist you.

and stick to plain English. If there is something you don't understand,
we will take the time to explain it to you.

if you in the process of developing your web site.

I could make my own web site why should
I use The Web Maid?
Of course you could make your own web site. There are all types
of utilities that can help computer literate people build a web
site. The problem with this is that it takes time. Time that might
be better employed running your business or organisation. There
is also a high risk that you could end up with a web site that looks
unprofessional and amateurish.
Is this the kind of image you want to present to potential customers?
Internet users learn very quickly to recognise a good site from
a poor one. The Web Maid understands what makes an effective web
site. We will develop a Web site that looks good and is easy
to navigate.
We're affordable — and we have high standards. If you are
not happy with the service or site we offer, then we're not happy
either.
How much would this cost?
Many small businesses realise the advantages of an Internet presence,
but are put off by the perceived cost, but let's get this into perspective
… how much would it cost your business to run daily, full
page color advertisments in a local paper for a week? A month? A
year? How much does a simple ad cost in the yellow pages?
A website works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to promote your
business and it will cost a lot less than the equivalent paper advertisment.
The Web Maid specialises in professional low cost web sites that
are designed to suit the client. Packages start at $130. Visit the
Prices page for more information.
Are there any hidden costs?
The Web Maid is up-front about the costs involved in owning and
operating a web site. All costs should be addressed in the quote
that The Web Maid will provide. Basically, four costs need to be
considered:
| 1. |
The first cost you need to consider is the
cost to design and build your Web site. The price you
pay will depend on the size and complexity of your site as
well as which web site developer you choose. The Web
Maid aims to create your site with the look you want and the
features you need for a very affordable price. See Prices
for more details |
| 2. |
The next aspect you will need to consider is your domain
name or url, more commonly referred to as your web address.
Currently, this costs approximately A$79 for two years for
a .com or .com.au address or $30 for others. You can purchase
the domain name yourself or The Web Maid can take care of
the entire process for no extra charge. |
| 3. |
Hosting of your site is the next cost you need to consider.
Hosting is like renting space for your site on a computer
that is permanently connected to the internet. The hosting
fee is dependent on the features and size of your site. TheWeb
Maid offers reasonably priced hosting to clients. It is possible
for those not requiring a domain name to obtain free hosting
and The Web Maid will discuss whether this option would suit
you or your business. Hosting fees are payable annually. |
| 4. |
Finally, you will need to consider maintenance costs and
ongoing fees. The Web Maid charges $35 per hour for
maintenance fees, which are billed in hourly blocks. We monitor
the time taken to make changes and advise you after each update.
An invoice will be sent once an hourly block is chargeable. |
Why does my business need a web site?
Your Web site can:
-
Increase your ability to communicate with your customers
-
Enhance customer/brand loyalty
-
Add to your credibility with your customers
-
Provide information and promote sales 24 hours a day, seven
days a week
-
Level the playing field between your business and larger competitors.
How long will it take to get my web site?
A brief initial consultation will be needed so we can fully understand
your needs and objectives and gain an idea of the information your
site will contain. Once we have all the needed information and materials,
you would expect to see a draft of your web site within a few weeks,
depending on the size and complexity of the site.
We will continue to consult with you throughout the design process
so that you are completely satisfied with the final product.
Can I change the content on my web site?
Yes — you can choose to allow us to perform your site maintenance,
simply email us your changes and we take care of it. Simple text alterations
or additions are charged in hourly blocks. We monitor the changes done
and advise the time they took at the completion of each change. When billable
time reaches an hour, we will send an invoice.
Should more substantial changes such as page redesign or major additions
be required we will provide a quote.
Now the site has been produced can I do my own changes?
Yes you can. The Web Maid will provide a copy of the site on CD. If The
Web Maid is hosting the site, you will be given ftp access to the site
and even instruction in how to use it if needed.
